If you’re dreaming of an outdoor wedding with a vineyard backdrop and/or getting married in a beautifully renovated barn which oozes charm and rustic appeal before dancing your socks off into the wee small hours, then I know you’re going to love this wedding at Old Luxters Barn!
Old Luxters Barn
Jake and Rachel chose to get married in Old Luxters Barn, set in the idyllic Oxfordshire countryside not far from Henley-upon-Thames. As part of the Chiltern Valley Winery, Brewery and Vineyard too, the added appeal here is that you will have a fantastically stocked bar with some amazing local wines. What’s not to love?
Wedding Outfits
Along with her bridesmaids, Rachel got ready in the farmhouse on site. Rachel wore a modern and elegant bridal gown by Charlie Brear. She looked absolutely stunning, as did her lovely bridesmaids in their forest green dresses and jumpsuits by Rewritten Bridesmaids.
Meanwhile, Jake and his groomsmen arrived at the venue already suited in pale grey, with just their buttonholes left to put on, which the florist had left for them in the barn.
Flowers and Styling
Flowers made a big impact at this wedding. I adored the natural and unrestrained bouquets, and especially the beautifully decorated gates in the garden. Keeping to the timeless white and green colour palette, Buckinghamshire florist Charlotte (owner of Verity and Thyme) chose a gorgeous combination of white cosmos, garden rose, dahlia, hydrangea, scabious, poppy, delphinium, and phlox set against green tones of eucalyptus and ruscus.
The barn was beautifully decorated with crisp white table cloths, flickering candles, gorgeous floral centre-pieces, with a backdrop of twinkling fairy lights.
The Wedding
At Old Luxters, couples have the choice of either getting married in the barn or out in the garden. Luckily for Jake and Rachel, they had gorgeous weather, allowing them to go ahead with their plan to get married in the garden, which was just beautiful!
After the ceremony – and after one of the best confetti showers I’ve witnessed! – Jake and Rachel enjoyed celebratory drinks surrounded by their family and friends in the enclosed courtyard outside the barn. A little while later, I whisked the couple away for a quiet walk and some photos in the garden and vineyard, followed by group photos before speeches and dinner in the barn.
The Wedding Cake
Oh, and let’s definitely not forget about the cake! One of Rachel’s bridesmaids is a brilliant baker, and made them a three-tiered espresso martini cake with espresso sponge, chocolate ganache and kahlua buttercream icing. (Sounds delicious, doesn’t it?!) The cake was also decorated with moon and star decorations by Suzanne Oddy Design.

Evening Party
Jake and Rachel love their music and dancing, so with the option of carrying on their party until 2am (much to the envy of other Oxfordshire wedding venues!) I can see why Old Luxters was the perfect choice for them!
A few words from the groom…
“My wife and I booked Lorna for our wedding in August 2021 and it was an excellent decision!
From the first virtual meeting through to the engagement shoot and wedding itself, Lorna was a joy to work with. Neither of us are particularly comfortable in front of a camera but Lorna made us feel so at ease.
On the wedding day she was brilliant, very calm and friendly, blending into the background so that we hardly noticed she was there.
The full gallery of photos came through much quicker than expected and we are so pleased with them! Lorna captured all of the important moments brilliantly and so many other little ones that we would never have seen otherwise.
We couldn’t recommend Lorna highly enough.”
So what do you reckon? Does this sound like your kind of wedding venue? If yes, then definitely take a look at Old Luxters Barn. Getting to visit beautiful wedding venues in stunning locations is definitely one of the best parts of wedding planning, so enjoy it! And when you’ve found your perfect Oxfordshire wedding venue and start looking for photographers, then drop me a line. I’d love to hear from you. 🙂
