An Autumn Engagement Shoot in Wytham Woods, Oxfordshire

As the leaves begin to change to beautiful shades of russet and gold and the air is crisp and clear, there really couldn’t be a better time to enjoy a walk in the woods, don’t you think?

A walk in the woods at this time of year has to be one of my all time favourite things – enjoying that soft crackle of dried leaves underfoot, watching squirrels chase each other, and I even find the chill of cold air on my cheeks an enjoyable sensation (within moderation)! Add an engagement shoot into the mix as well and I am truly spoilt!

Tom and Emily love going for countryside walks, so when I asked them where they’d like to have their engagement shoot, choosing some local woods as the shoot location was the obvious choice for them. Even though they’d never been to Wytham Woods in Oxfordshire before, as it turned out it was a beautiful place for a walk (and an engagement photoshoot), so that by the end of our hour-long shoot it seemed like such a shame to have to stop!

Wytham Woods is an ancient semi-natural woodland dating back to the last Ice Age. It covers around 1000 acres with over 500 species of plants, a wealth of woodland habitats and 800 species of butterflies and moths. So, if you find yourself in the area and love a good woodland walk, then I’d definitely recommend these woods. There’s even a lovely pub – The White Hart of Wytham – at the end of the road where you can warm up afterwards beside a roaring open fire. Perfect!

A few words from the lovely couple:

” We’re very pleased with the results of our engagement shoot with Lorna. She was very helpful and quick to respond leading up to the shoot, always ready with a practical suggestion where needed. Lorna went out of her way to come to the site we chose, and while we weren’t really sure what to expect, and are both a bit camera-shy, she did a great job of putting us at our ease and making things feel a bit more natural. Her ideas for shots and composition during the shoot were professional and effective, and we could see that Lorna really knows her stuff. We were sent the photos sooner than anticipated; the shots came out in very good quality. We’re sure Lorna will do a great job on our wedding day itself!”
