Hi, I’m Lorna

I’m a wedding photographer based in the beautiful coastal town of North Berwick, near Edinburgh. I grew up in East Lothian, so this landscape has always felt like home. After eight years photographing weddings across the south of England — in grand country manors, light-filled marquees, rustic barns, sunlit gardens, elegant city venues, and everything in between — I’ve learned to work confidently in any setting, any light, and any weather. In October 2025, I moved back to East Lothian, and I couldn’t be more excited to be working in a location I love, building relationships with local venues and suppliers.

I’m happiest by the sea, never say no to great coffee, and believe the best celebrations are the ones that feel both beautiful and effortless.

But really, this page isn’t just about me. It’s about you — and making sure you feel totally relaxed, understood, and excited about having your wedding photographed.

Because here’s the thing: your wedding day isn’t a photoshoot. It’s a story unfolding — the laughter, the hugs, the quiet glances, the joy that fills the room. And my job is to capture it all authentically, without ever making you feel staged or awkward.

Lorna really took the time to get to know us and our story, and we never felt rushed, pressured or awkward — it was completely the opposite.

So, why weddings?

I actually didn’t set out to be a wedding photographer at all. Back in 2011, I was travelling a lot — sometimes for fun, sometimes for work — and discovered how much I loved wandering with my camera, photographing everything from cityscapes to tiny flower petals.

By 2012 I’d bought my first “proper” camera, took myself off to a beginners’ course, and before long I was hooked.

A few years later, I spent a sabbatical in Vienna working with a portrait photographer. It was an amazing experience, but something about posed studio shots didn’t sit quite right with me. I craved real, honest emotion.

In 2017, my next-door neighbours asked me to photograph their wedding. There were nerves, a lot of late nights, and more than a few tutorials — and then something clicked: this was it. Weddings were what I wanted to do. The laughter, the joy, the fleeting looks between people — those were the moments worth capturing. And I’ve been hooked ever since.

What it’s like to work with me

After eight years photographing weddings, I’ve learned that the most meaningful images come when you feel comfortable enough to simply be yourselves.

Think of me as the calm presence in the room — there when you need guidance, invisible when you don’t. I won’t boss you around or make you stand in awkward poses for hours. Instead, I’ll help you feel comfortable enough to just be yourselves, and that’s when everything begins to feel effortless.

Most couples arrive a little nervous about being photographed. By the end of the day, they’ve forgotten I’m even there — and that’s exactly how it should be.

Whether you’re planning a windswept coastal elopement, an elegant affair at a luxury manor, or a big Edinburgh city wedding, I’ll fit right in and make sure your photos reflect you – not a trend, not a Pinterest board, but your real story.

Lorna was such a wonderful, considerate photographer. We were so grateful for her listening and carefully crafting her approach to our day.

And when not photographing weddings?

You’ll usually find me walking by the sea in North Berwick with my husband Tim, our little girl Robyn, and our lovable double doodle, Toby.

My husband and I are both massive foodies, love cooking up a storm in the kitchen (the more spice the better!), and when we have the chance, listening to live music, and exploring new places. Every now and again we also enjoy the slower pace of life while camping and travelling around in our tin-topped copper-coloured VW T25 camper van, called Heinz (yes, like the beans!).

It’s these simple, meaningful moments that remind me how quickly time passes, and why photographs matter so much.

Five fun facts about me

  1. I was born in Canada but spent most of my childhood in a wee village in East Lothian, hence my subtle Scottish accent.
  2. I lived in Berlin for 2 years and Vienna for 1. Although not fluent in German, I did come away with an excellent  knowledge of Christmas markets in these 2 cities!
  3. My husband and I got married on a beach in Argyll and we even got sunburnt! We couldn’t believe our luck with the beautiful weather, espeically after the downpour the night before!
  4. I’m not a huge fan of having my photo taken but I’ve learnt that with the right photographer, it makes all the difference.
  5. I’m a coffee snob. No instant coffee for me!
