If I had to describe Chris and Charlotte’s Surrey wedding at Barnett Hill Hotel in just 3 words, what would they be? Well, they would have to be elegant, easy and relaxed, and here’s why…
So I may need to use a few more adjectives to describe this Surrey wedding venue, as Barnett Hill Hotel – a Queen Anne style country house hotel – just oozes elegance, luxury and charm. When you first drive up the narrow lane to the hotel, you cannot be anything but wowed by the 26 acres of beautifully manicured lawns and gardens as well as the wilder spaces beyond. The grounds are so massive that you could quite easily get lost if you weren’t careful! (Probably best not to test this theory on your wedding day however!) Then, as you enter the hotel you will again be impressed by the stunning light-filled entrance hall with its black and white tiled floor, white wood-panelled walls and decorative stucco ceiling. Oh, and of course not forgetting the grand sweeping staircase with its striking chandelier hanging above!
With the ceremony room opposite the reception room (or the Garden Room as they call it) navigation around the venue is really easy for you and your guests. In terms of styling and decoration, the dark wood-panelled walls in the ceremony room and the lighter, neutrally-coloured walls of the reception room mean you can easily add your own decorations, following whatever colour palette you have in mind. For Chris and Charlotte, they even went so far as to add a flower wall in the reception room. There are many possibilities.
Upstairs there is a dedicated room (The Acorn Room) where the bride and her bridesmaids can get ready, meaning that you can be there from first thing in the morning and not have any panic about the traffic when you’re trying to make it to the ceremony on time. (Or should I say those few fashionably minutes late which is expected of the bride?!)
And lastly – hats off to the staff. They were all incredibly helpful and everything ran like clockwork.
I was extremely impressed by how laid-back and organised Chris and Charlotte were on the run-up to their wedding. While there were a few flutters of nerves on the day (only natural) their careful planning meant that everything ran smoothly, so that they could just relax and enjoy their special day with all their favourite people.
The sun shone, confetti was thrown and drinks flowed while the delightful sounds of laughter, excited chatter and gentle classic jazz melodies filled the air.
What more could you ask for?
To Chris and Charlotte: I was so honoured to be your photographer and enjoyed each and every special moment of your wedding. Your hospitality was superb; your friends and family were so kind. I hope these pictures will always remind you of what an incredible day you had.
Here’s what the lovely couple had to say about their photography experience:
“Lorna made us feel completely at ease and took on board everything we were looking for in a wedding photographer. She is extremely professional and made the whole experience easy for us! Her help and guidance as to how the day would run took a massive weight off our shoulders, and we were able to enjoy the day knowing she was capturing all the special moments!”– Chris & Charlotte
